Any DP's around Edmonton?

Re: Any DP's around Edmonton?

Ahh the winters, how I hate them :). Since Edmonton isnt really booming in the movie industry I guess I'll have to use the internet as a major way to show off my movies. I hope to finish a feature length movie in august (but who knows I might just condense it into a short) but I 'd like to get onto a new project, cause Ive gotten so many ideas since this first began.

Actually Ive been wondering that myself. Some people say it never snows, other people say it does. I hope its sunny all year round :).

Re: Any DP's around Edmonton?

Depends on what you mean by "sunny"... I live in Vegas, and I LIVE for overcast days. The sun here feels like needles piercing your skin whenever you're in direct sunlight...

Re: Any DP's around Edmonton?

haha Ive gotta travel more, I dont think Ive ever actually experienced a truly hot place :). When I went to vancouver it was pretty hot, but it rained once in the week I was there. I love overcast days, cause its not too cool, not too warm. Its wierd, in the winter I would say "man I wish I was in vancouver right now" but I cant believe how many people would say "Oh no, it rains there." I'd prefer rain over snow for sure :).

Re: Any DP's around Edmonton?

hey, I went to school in Victoria and lived there for about 2-3 years awsome place, I thought about living In Vancouver cause a lot of film is there and a bunch of people from my film school moved there, I ended up living in Vancouver for about a month before moving back to Victoria, I think it rained everyday for that month in november, that sucked.. I like the rain and all but man. anyway's that's my problem too. where to move now that I'm back in Edmonton. My cousin who I went to filmschool was lucky he has US/Canadian dual citizenship so no problem he moved just outside of LA, In Ranch Cucamonga and another bud from school moved there two. that's were I'm trying for. I currently spend about 2weeks there a year. it's sweet but crowded like you wouldn't believe. Hey Barry you know what I mean. Last time I went to LA I drove threw Vegas and it's just crazy there too. Compared to Edmonton that's another world. Conclusion LA's Sweet, Van rain's too much and toronto is cold as hell in the winter. I hear Austin was rated at the top for places to make indie film? Later

Re: Any DP's around Edmonton?

Hmm Austin eh... I've heard Sydney is supposed to be pretty cool, and Ive always liked australia (though Ive never been there :)). The only thing is the spiders, but hey, I cant let those stop me :).

Re: Any DP's around Edmonton?

Rains a ton in Vancouver.. but its the only place in Canada that it doesnt snow and goto -40 in the winters. I grew up in Edmonton, and there was seriosly days the schools would close down because if you walked from the doorstep to the School bus you would get frostbite... Shoveling your car out every morning, flying off the roads cause they where ice.. no thanks. I take the rain anyday.. That is why they made umbrellas.
