Any Bluegrass Musicians here??????

I just picked up my first mandolin, not the greatest, but it sounds nice. A Fender.

By the end of the weekend, I will have memorized a D turn-around. I swear.

Sometimes I swear I was born in the wrong part of the country. Bluegrass is in my blood. Not many bluegrass musicians in Southern California.

I've played banjo since high school. I also play guitar, and I can find my way around a mandolin. I finally sold my mandolin a couple of years ago though, as I didn't play it much at all. (The money was used to buy a very nice ukulele.)

I'm taking up fiddle this fall, though. I inherited the old family fiddle. My grandfather gave it to me on the condition that I learn to play it, since he wants it to stay in the family. That was s no-brainer.

I play bluegrass mandolin and guitar.
I don´t play in a active band anymore, but I meet some guys once a month and we do a little session just for fun.

And, yeah - tell me about being born in the wrong country Doc. ;-)

I play a little blues and bluegrass guitar (2 ends of the spectrum).
Many years back, went to jams a couple of times, but was stunned by the virtuosity of amateurs... and humbly slinked back to my living room...

Banjo was my first instrument... I play Claw-hammer (Applachian style or frailing).
Still love that mountain music!

I'm trying to learn clawhammer right now. When I got my banjo, years ago, I learned Scruggs 3-finger style.

In fact, I grew up at summer camp with Earl Scruggs' grandson. The weird part is that I didn't know he was related until well after I'd started playing banjo (still at camp at that point).
