GH2 Any advice on balancing the Merlin with the GH2?

Mid=1 regular,one finish. End+ 1 start, one regular, 1 finish
Is that English?
no. its just very sloppy typing. and its referencing counterweight type and placement.

a clearer representation of their recipe would have been:
Mid: 1 regular, 1 finish
End: 1 start, 1 regular, 1 finish

but none of that is going to matter anyway as they dont mention which mounting hole, or gimbal elevation or arc size. all of which are as (if not more) important than weight placement...

and YOUR particular recipe is all going to depend on what lens and what other gear you have (mic, mattebox, etc...) on the camera. so its going to be really hard. practically impossible for anyone to help unless the OP lists every component they are using and how they are attached. because simply having the lcd open or closed has a large effect on balance. imagine a mic or external recorder? is it on the shoe or on an arm? is it all on a baseplate or rail system?
ALL of that is absolutely crucial in balancing any stabilizer...

a lot of people think they're just going to go out and buy a stabilizer and be off and running (generally the same people who think buying a DSLR is going to make them an instant music video producer) but getting these things configured and using them well is pretty tricky. it takes KNOWLEDGE and PRACTICE. two things often disregarded in the DSLR world ; )

the general physics of the merlin are pretty easy to get your head around. and once youre there, you can generally figure out how to counteract problems you may be having.
there is a setup dvd that comes with it (i think the dvd is posted in sections on the tiffen website) that will get new users up to speed pretty easily.
