I am looking to add the option of a gold mount battery to m 7d rig. I am terribly confused, or maybe just overwhelmed with the information out there regarding this setup.
What I would like to do is get a battery plate mounted onto a Redrock cheeseplate on the back of my shoudler rig.... and then get the necessary connectors to power the following:
7d
SmallHD dp6
DataVideo HDMI to SDI converter
I see that I can get a QR DSLR plate that will power my camera if I buy the 2 other Canon accessories. But I was wondering if there is another option. If I could just get a normal plate with the d-tap port on the side, plug in the splitter for 4 different d-taps and then get the necessary cables for each unit I wish to power. Therefore if I ever switch cameras I am not stuck with a plate that is made for a camera I no longer own.
It gets confusing when I see 45 different plates and then different adapters on the back of them to mount on different cameras.... not even considering the power connection I mentioned above. How will I know a plate can be mounted onto a redrock cheeseplate without modification?
Sorry if this is all over the place, you can probably see my frustration. I have tried searching for this information, and when I find some, I wind up drowning when I try to put all of the peices together and figure out the complete setup.
THANKS for any info at all.
