Anton Bauer Batteries.....

I know I keep saying that I'm waiting a long time to make the switch to HD, and I am I SWEAR.... But, just out of curiosity....

I love using my Anton Bauer Dionic 90s on the XL2. I can shoot for 8 hours or more on one battery. I've spoken to a friend of mine at Anton Bauer and he doesn't think they have a system for the DVX/HVX. Does anyone know differently? If not, would folks be interested in buying such a system if one were developed? They're not cheap, between the charger and a couple of batteries you'll drop a couple of grand, but I think they're worth it.

Personally I think they are VERY MUCH overrated, AB that is. Yes, they are the pro standard, yes they are good, yes they are well made, but pricing is just so over the top, it will be hard to justify such an investment for anything other that a WELL PAID production.
(Especially as I can buy a GREAT 5600mAh battery for the DVX for $79 somewhere......hmm...where was that?........;-)

I suppose, but they were the first accessory I purchased for the XL2 and I've never looked back. I can't imagine shooting without them, they are really very, very good.

How much time do you get out of these 5600mAh batteries?

Hey Matt,

AB: ", they are really very, very good."

Yeah, I know. I had some on our GlideCam V16, but ended up selling the AB stuuf (bat and charger) after only a couple of short test uses. We replaced them with Li-Ion and now Li-Poly batteries. At $100 a piece of these 36WH Li-poly batteries, which have selectable voltages 3, 4.5, 5, 6, 7.5, 9, 12, and 14V they are pretty impressive for anything other than the cam (although could be used for cam also). And the DVX does 5 hours with the 5600mAh (without LCD). So it's pretty sweet.

But hey, I'm not knocking AB....well, yeah, a little I guess, but only because of price really.
I certainly can appreciate quality too, and understand that quality costs money. Heck, I use STAHLWILLE tools for crying out loud! ;-)

I just ordered the AB bracket for the XL2.

Other than being able to use the batteries I already have, I can't wait to balance out the damn lens...lol!
