Anti-Glare Film for O7Q?

Has anyone else thought about getting an anti-glare film for their Odyssey 7/7Q?

After using the device for a while, I feel like I don't really need the current screen protector's labeling to know what is what on the unit and would much rather have less reflection off the screen.

I know anti-glare films could cause diffusion and viewing angle issues, which could hinder the nice display a bit. But, as I'm planning on using it with a Steadicam for a bunch of shoots this fall, I'm thinking having less glare would be worth the trade-offs.

Anyone had any experience with using anti-glare films for monitors like the O7Q?

I really believe that any professional monitor should have a matte finish. Glossy is useless except for looking good in a store.

not sure it will work on the 7Q, but I recently got a matte screen cover for my iPad (super, super reflective) and it kills ALL the glare and is just fantastic. I feel like I'm seeing my iPad for the first time. It's so much better. Just Amazon IPad matte screen and it's the highest rated one.

Hi Mitch,

Any chance for a matte version of the current 7Q screen cover sheet? That would be awesome and really useful. We can probably cut an iPad sheet, but it would be nice to have an OEM.

ProK Solutions makes our screen protectors and they go make anti-glare stuff. I've asked them for a sample to test.

Our engineers did test this early on and rejected it as the OLED is just some damn goos and they didn't want to lessen the performance. But then again they are engineers and not working crew out in the field. I'll give it a test and see if we can make something available as an option. No the first time someone has asked.

Thanks, Mitch. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I've decided to approach a custom film company to see if I can get one cut for my use before an official CD option is available. I have ordered a sample pack of their films to see which I like best in the image quality vs. amount of glare reduction department. I'll let you all know if I come up with anything that works well.

I've been on a shoot a week for the past month or so, and everyone is blown away by 7Q footage. It's AMAZING.

However, I don't prefer the option of taking a selfie on the 7Q. The director today kept saying on footage review, "I can hardly see the footage with the reflection," and that's with the very good at blocking the sun (but kind of clunky) Hoodman hood.

Is there anyway CD can make a removable screen protector like the one that comes on it with the labels, but just make it matte?

Well you can get rid of glare the old fashion way and carry a 3 foot square piece of black duventine around with you. I always keep a piece in my monitor case.

Yup, back in the day of CRTs the only way to see an image was to block out all light. It looked like you were Matthew Brady out there shooting, but one could see the image.
