Anthony Minghella R.I.P.

I read a book recently about the making of Cold Mountain and how they were able to use FCP. It was mostly from the perspective of Walter Murch's experience, since he was the editor. But the parts that talk about Minghella paint him as an extremely gifted, generous, thoughtful and hard-working man.

He will be missed

I wasn't a great fan of his work, but he was the nicest man. I had a meeting with him in the beginning of Feb. this year, and he looked absolutely fine. In fact, he was relating to me a story of how Mr. X (I'm protecting the name here) who was working recently with him on a project suddenly got up in the middle of work and said "I feel really, really unwell. I gotta go to the hospital" and then left... the next day Mr. X was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given weeks to live. Minghella shook his head with sadness and disbelief. And now, he's dead - even before Mr. X.

RIP, Anthony.

Treasure life. Every moment of it. Because you just never know. Did you hug a loved one today?
