Another thread about dedicated section for FS7

I can see how sharing the forum with F5 and F55 users would be a good deal for FS7 users. But I see no advantage for F5 and F55 users. Besides the FS7 doesn’t fit there.

I don’t see the reason for the confusion. I think it should be pretty clear. Cameras should be separated by market or user base. The kind of buyer who buys a FS7 is not the same type of buyer who buys a F55. The cameras are clearly directed at different users and should be in different forums. The best is to keep the same type of users together.
So I think the FS7 should have it’s own forum or be with the FS700. The people who buy FS7 cameras are mostly the same who would buy a FS700. Not the same who would buy a F55, unless F55 owners would buy a FS7 for b camera. But that is different.

Having said that I have put an order for a FS7. Even with all the faults and unimpressive image, it’s $8000 and for that little it’s a great deal.

You mean the near enough same image as the F5? The camera being used on a current big time CNN doc series? I find it a bit odd and more than a little presumptuous to be repeatedly told what sort of user I am. And I find it equally odd to be repeatedly told that no F5 or F55 owner would possibly be interested in anything I or people like me - who made a camera purchase choice for all sorts of reasons - have to say, especially on a forum and supposed 'community' like this place.

Guys, this isn't the thread for camera wars. I know discussing what-to-put-where, can tend to bring it out since demographics are a consideration towards how to structure the camera forums, but...

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, again. Sorry it took me so long to get off my ass and do something.

I will start a new thread in the next couple of days seeking input and suggestions (not debate :) ) on how to move forward with the structure of the Sony section over the next week or so.

It being a specific / exact way isn't the focus just yet. Improving usability, and dusting off some of the neglect of the Sony section, getting some useful sticky threads, etc, is what is important at this point. Later we can argue about which cameras belong together, or whether they should be sorted by price, model, etc, etc, etc. :)

That said... going to close this down as its immediate purpose has been served, and I don't want to watch it turn into a X vs Y argument :)

I will be in touch again soon. Thanks very much.
