Anyway, in addition to fooling around with under cranking, I also wanted to see the quality difference between shooting at SQ and SQ-Lite compression. Honestly, even when magnified, I can't see a difference so I'll stick with SQ-Lite in the future.
Also, changing the EI on the camera doesn't actually change the exposure to that EI, it's just an "index": it still is shooting at 800ISO. In post then, you bring down the exposure and salt to taste.
I find that doing it this way, 200EI is definitely cleaner than 400EI or 800EI. In future, I think I'll set my EI to 640...a nice balance between noise and exposure.
