Another pulldown question

Hi All,
I shot a spot in 24p (not A) for editing in a 60i timeline.
After reading the Sony whitepaper, I didn't do automatic pulldown removal.

However, when compositing PIPs (35% of normal size in Vegas4.0e using Satish's
3DLE plug in) they flicker and artifact like crazy.
I tried re-rendering with the 2:3:3:2 inserted to give each frame it's own "address", to no avail.
I'll certainly use 30p next time, but how can I maintain the beautiful 24p look now without the artifacts?

TIA for your help.
Ken

I don't use Satish, so I can't say if that's your problem or not. Try reducing the size using all Vegas tools (like track motion) and see if it still has the problem.

David,
Nope, it wasn't the plug in. The artifacts are severe combing...like giant scan lines.
I reset Vegas to do pulldown removal and it seems better, except for the slight 24p motion judder. Hopefully that will be corrected during the print to tape.
The Sony whitepaper is clear on some things, muddy on others.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I think when you play them on a normal TV, it will be fine. You WILL see interlace artifacts on your computer screen, because your computer screen is progressive.

I was viewing it on my NTSC monitor. The footage rendered to normal DV and output to tape with the 3:2 pulldown looks ok...just a bit of motion artifacting in the pans.
The stuff actually looked good when full screen...the problem arose when scaling it down.
Shooting 30p for the kind of work I do makes more sense now.
