another MTF question

MTF Nikon takes any Nikon lens with an F type mount. That includes the old manual glass lenses, as well as the newer DX lenses.

The zoom you're looking at says it has an "Nikon F" type mount, so you should be good.

The problem however is when you go between Nikon brands from what I'm gathering so far. For some people the non-Nikon brand lenses fit loosely, or in my case it fits nice and snug, but my old Nikon glass lenses won't even go on and turn.

I might add that I have been using the MTF mount with the older, manual, Nikon F mount lenses as well as Zeiss primes, and have encountered no issues mounting or unmounting lenses. There is, however, a tiny bit of play in the mount once the lens is in place, but it does not seem to have any functional influence.

Do many people use both PL lenses AND the nikon zooms? I am wondering if it will be more of a pain because you are going to have to swap the MTF and PL mount every time you want to change between them. then if you are using a mattebox, that has to be re-configured as well, huh?

maybe its just a better long run investment to get 100mm PL and a RED 300mm or something like that...

good to know. probably a case of once you're used to it, it really makes no difference. I have a buddy who is going to lend me a nikon lens to test out, so I am gonna order that MTF adapter to see if it will suit my needs. thanks for all the help.

i use the mtf lens and a pl mount and have swapped them quickly on a shoot. the sony mount that allows you to use the pl mount and the nikon mount is very well made for what it is. have had no problems
