Another Heinz Entry - In Your Face!

Great job--good concept, performance, direction. I like the poppy color palette too.

Only complaint from the DP side would be the over-agressive shallow depth of field behind the couple looking at the real estate--it gives a nearly surreal look to this shot that is not consistent with the rest of the spot. But that's a minor complaint.

Good luck with the contest!

I totally agree with the shots of the couple. I was closed down to 5.6 on an 85mm but i should have gone a little more or just used the 50.

My friend bruce allen (www.boacinema.com) did the cc last night. Made a HUGE difference.

Good luck yourself! your spot was pretty damn great.

Fantastic. Best Heinz commercial I've seen on there as of now. The one with the girl and guy in the store was winning it for me, this one just topped it.

Beats make sense, the punch is well timed, looks and feels like an ad.

Congrats Matty_G and Siniarch. Great product.

It also got a laugh out of me! When the guy was squirtin' the ketchup all over his food. lol.

Hey Matty, I didn't know you were teaming up with Luis on this. Very cool man. I thought your spot was great!

Thanks guys!
Yeah, Luis and i talked about this after doing some sgpro/redrock tests and he was pretty excited about this and had some great ideas. We shot another entry also but didn't have to time to give it the love and care this one did (i went through about 15 different edits of this piece)

Thanks for all the comments guys.

And thanks Matt for putting up my all my enthusiasm and smart comments, and for driving from Riverside all these days.

The second one Definitely needed more time.

I won't put the link to the second entry here to avoid double posting, but once I make that post, I'll place the link to the post here.

Thanks guys.
We spent two days casting on this because we didn't find everyone we wanted on the first day. I think it was time well spent.

also, while we did have a script a lot of it was improved by the actors.

Somebody posted this on another message board I frequent. It's one of my favorites from the contest.

WOW good job! I love the concept you had for this commercial!

Hey man, i'm hoping you can write some more about what you went through in making this TV commercial. I'm sure it will not only be a beneficial read that'll teach me and others a thing or two but also an entertaining one as well. :)

By the way, how did you cast for your commercial? Did you just print out some flyers for casting call? where'd you post it up? etc.

I made a commercial recently for a coca cola product and I casted through myspace ;) Works for me. I'm wondering what are your methods.

Take care,

JM

Hey Justmarvin,
Here in LA and probably in NY also, the only way to go is www.breakdownexpress.com I tried Craigslist's gigs section and jobs section, Mandy.com, and a bunch of other sites, but if you want one with actors that are serious about auditioning every day, then go with breakdown express.

When you submit your breakdown, its free if you only send it to Actor's Access. which only goes to the actors not their agents.

It was kind of confusing to do the first breakdown for me and I gave up. then someone recommended it again and since I was having no luck anywhere else, I went back determined to post it.

I'm so glad I did. got tons of submissions. Now, unless you call everyone they day before to confirm expect only about 30% to show. but out of 200 30% its not too bad.

good luck and let me know if you need any help with navigating the site.
