GH3 another GH3 question! What is the Shutter Speed Effect for?

This seems like such a strange function (actually on Fn4 button when first switched on). When I set the camera up in Manual (with my own profile to try to match my F3 slog look, basically flat, lifting the blacks so they can be brought down again if needed in post) and the Shutter Speed Effect is ON, it overrides the effects of changing the shutter speed, iso and aperature - whatever setting you change it doesn't seem to effect the brightness etc of the image on the lcd screen! However when it is OFF, the camera behaves normally. and increasing the shutter speed, reducing iso etc, darkens the image etc like it should.

Could someone please explain the use function of the Shutter Speed Effect? Can I disable it in the menu? Thanks! :undecided

By the way, I shot some footage earlier of my son, things around the house etc (camera just arrived today with a 12-35 lens) and I was blown away by the quality of the images, looks even better to me than my F3. Incredible. It could be the PERFECT B camera for getting cut aways, establishing shots etc...time will tell!

Are you sure that the effect is on and off when you think it is? In some of the GH2 menus, the word you see with the menu means that if you want to change to that setting, you should press the button. I think that the Shutter Speed Effect might be one of them, but I don't have my camera with me so I can't check, nor do I know if it works the same way on the GH3.

its on page 91 of the PDF. It basically Previews the effects of the aperture and shutter speed. Checking the depth of Field and displaying the actual shutter speed. Under custom Menu under Fn Button Set i changed it to a different FN like Level Gauge.

I still can't find what out what the function of the Shutter Speed Effect is, can anyone tell me what it does or why anyone would want to use it? I would love to disable it altogether but I can't find that option in the menus.
Thanks!
