Another feature shot on GH1

Hey guys, just FYI I've been working on a feature shot solely with the GH1 for the last and next several weeks. I'm primarily doing sound, but sort-of ACing as well.

No stills/footage to post yet, and maybe not until the shoot is over as we're a small crew so fatigue and time get in the way during the shoot :violin:

However, we've been getting really nice results. It's a simple down-to-earth bromance comedy with small, intimate locations and a lot of practical lighting, by design. We've been getting great results from blending natural light with a 750w key in a softbox, and some small halogens for back lighting - we're using other lights too, but mainly these two. Smoking interior sets with a fog machine helps a LOT, as does lighting evenly to avoid noise on background textures where the light is falling into darkness. We diffuse a lot, as when highlights blow out, they really blow out. Overall, though, it's been proving very flexible and we've been shooting in everything from a white-tiled bathroom to a dark-ish van interior.

Lens-wise, we've been using the kit lens occasionally but find it a bit soft; most of the time we've been using Nikon 35mm primes with an adapter and getting lovely results.

Major irritations: no video out during the actual shot, and when we pipe in line-level audio to the mic port, we keep getting a warning that 'mic power is not connected!' which is very irritating when one is trying to focus. We've been using a slate so the on-camera audio is really just a scratch track, though the onboard mics are not all that bad.

Won't have too much time to check on this thread, but I'll try to look in once a week and maybe upload some stills after the project is done.
