i wish! ive been having alot of issues with round-tripping to motion. i get the beach ball of death.

Did you do a clean install?
How you install both FCS3 and 10.5.7 or .8 is critical.

repaired permissions
no luck
i did not do a clean install of the upgrade-
didnt even know that was possible?
ive read up on the issue and it seems like lots of people are having the same issue.
some say its a "quartz" issue, whatever that means!
im am running 10.5.8 with the FCP7 upgrade.
i was updated to to 10.5.8 BEFORE i did the upgrade.

i actually seem to have made some headway!
trashed my framework file-
so far its running stable!!!
System > Library> Frameworks > MediaServerAPI.framework

Since FC is SO dependent on system and hardware resources it is ALWAYS recommended to do a clean instal of your system when installing a new (and this is a HUGE rewrite) FCP.
Make a clone of your drive and rebuild a new drive with system first, then FCStudio... then everything else. Starting and restarting and repairing permissions AS YOU GO!!!
If you don't, things like this will happen. Obviously since EVERYONE isn't having the problems you are it could very well be related to the way you installed FC.

THIS is the second reason we don't upgrade mid project... it costs TOO much money to spend an entire day down to rebuild a system.

-reinstall version 5
-do the updates
-do the studio two updates
-do the FCP 7 install

Complete reinstall is different than a CLEAN install. WIPE your drive and start again. From a CLEAN drive.

No... it isn't. But again, recommended. Not saying it will fix your issue, heck, you haven't even given any clue to what your issue is other than round trippin from Motion. What formats? What computer? What system, what qt etc.
Repair permissions, clean your caches? There is a lot of prebinding that has to go on with FC. Maybe repair your prebindings.
