Hello, first post.

I am looking to buy a DVX100b in the next week. So far I know I want to buy new and get a mack warranty for 2 years. Other than that I am looking for tips. I want a good deal, as does everybody. When I look on EBAY I am confused by the huge variation in price for these cameras. I already have a tripod, and will be shooting outside, so at this time I won't use a light and so i don't feel I need a "bundle". All I want is camera/battery/charger. I don't understand the term "Gray Market". Can you reccomend a dealer??? Any tips for a total newbie??? Thanks in advance!

B&H

Competitive pricing and available mack warranty.

About as white market as it gets :D

Look around. There has probably been no other topic discussed to such exhaustion as this one.

Then there's that one sticky about "where to buy"... and all the horror stories about buying them from gray market dealers and the whole well the lens is extra scam. Wouldnt hurt to do some searching...

You might want to check out newegg.com. They are not an authorized dealer but the DVX I bought from them is legit and under warranty. I haven't heard of anyone getting a grey market cam from them. It's worth a look-see. Good luck.

Cheers,

John

B&H often gets you near wholesale prices. I went through a wholesaler just to see how much my camera would be and it came to be about 100 less than b&h, and you only have to buy one.

Gray market means that it was not brough into the US by the Manufacturer. In general it means that your warranty is in the country that your camera was initially shipped to. So let's say you bought a camera from one of the Brooklyn shops, it is altogether likely that your warranty will be in Japan. So while you still could get it fixed here, it will cost you money during that first year. Now the Mack warranties do not kick in until the original warranty is over.

My sincere recommendation is to find an authorized dealer and purchase a US product, and then that will qualify you for the free copy of the Barry Green Book and the Red Giant Software. We also will be extending the $250 rebate that we have on the US camera as well. Keep in mind that you have to be a US resident to take advantage of thes offers.
