another beginner question. fcp log and transfer

i have 4 sdhc cards full of footage from a wedding i shot, i want to dump my footage off of these cards and edit them later in fcp7.... any ways, can i take my footage from my sdhc card and when i do my log and transfer in fcp 7, can i simply just chose "select all" add all the clips off of my sd card and click "ad selection to que" and then let them all transfer and edit them later? ( i am choosing for the log and transfer files to go to a pre named folder on my scratch drive"

You can also copy the entire "Private" folder to a harddrive on your computer and do the transcoding at a later time (i usually back my cards to multiple drives and make a hardcopy on a DVD+DL)

Just make sure not to modify the "Private" Folder or it's structure, don't even rename the "Private" part, just put it inside a new folder (with whatever name you want on it)
 
yes i did that also,i backed up the whole private folder on an external hardrive, but how do i import that private folder that i backed up back into my fcp?
 
Log and transfer, like you do with the card. Then Click on the folder icon with the "+"plus sign on the top left... browse your Hard drive till you find the "Private" folder, and click open. The rest is the same (add selection to queued, and let it run)

Another thing you can do is add multiple "Private" folders and transcode all of them at once...
