Another African scam!

Hmm,

Criminals exist in every country and EVERY race, coupled with high rates of unemployment and under development (Country's infastructure, social, economical, technical) add massive govermental level corruption and add high levels of poverty, is it any wonder that people will resort to criminal means in order to make money?

Look at many other Countries in very similar deprived conditions such some of the North American Countries, with high rates of murder, crime, kidnapping etc.

It is all to simple to poke fun at things, however if we stop and think for a moment, try and understand why things are the way they are, maybe we can see that things don't just happen without a cause.

I see your point, but it seems that things sometimes do just happen without a conscience. I hope I never have to live under such circumstances that make stealing and thievery ok in my mind. I am fortunate.

Criminals by nature don't have a conscience, but saying that one has to be careful, there may be two situations:

(a) A theif who steals for personal gain

(b) A desperate individual who steals to sustain his family

Clearly one is a criminal act without conscience while the other is a conscience act to save lives, but by means of criminality.

Of course I'm not suggesting that scammers are the second type, plus from the victims perspective it is not nice to be scammed, since it preys on peoples insecurities and sometimes very vulnerable people in weak economic situations.

All I am saying is that the environment is not conducive to higher moral standards that we may enjoy.

On a positive note, a dedicated police force that clamps down on these illegal activity is emerging in Nigeria.

I received a spam with my favorite subject line ever just a couple days ago (it got by SpamSieve somehow and ended up in my inbox -- but I'll take the 99.5% success rate if it the .05% yields this comedy gold):

Subject: Sperms of endearment.
