Hey folks,
I've been looking into the most affordable, yet relatively solid/reliable method to get wireless monitoring for a feature shoot.
Thus far, kit acquired includes:
PDMovie Wireless FF kit.
Shogun Flame as a daylight-viewable 1080p monitor for focus-puller.
IDX CW-1 as HDMI transmitter.
So far, so good. I have a way to monitor (very) low-latency FHD images from the FS7 ... IF ... there's a 1080p signal coming out of the HDMI output. And that's the big IF.
I'm interested to know how much it would cost to use the same setup, with the addition of a SDI-to-HDMI scaler on the FS7 end of things. This would (I think) allow me to shoot 4K internally on the camera, whilst still sending a (SDI/HDMI converted) FHD signal back to the monitor for the focus puller.
I'm looking at one of these: https://cvp.com/product/atomos_atomcscsh1_sdi-to-hdmi
If anyone has any experience with this device, or knows of another better or cheaper way to do the same thing, please do shout!
I'm aware that the 'proper' way to do this would be with a wireless SDI transmitter, but they're over £1K more expensive than the IDX device (and I already have it ;-).
Cheers,
jason
