Animation with DVX100B

Hey, guys,

I have to do a stop motion animation project as my final project in animation class ans I want to use my DVX100B. The project will mix live action and stop motion animation, so it would be best to use the same camera for both. I did a cutout animation last week using a digital camera and wasn't all that happy with the result. (See Cloud Buster http://www.youtube.com/user/Paladin0954)

Anybody got any ideas on how to use the 100B for animation?

hook it up to your computer and use software to capture and store the frames on your pc. depends on what OS you're using. Linux for instance has "stopmotion" software for it.

A lot of it depends on the style of animation you want. That clip looks great if it is what you wanted to achieve. I did a stop motion/live action project a while ago with my DVX hooked up to a computer. if you want to check it out take a look at "Action Figure Roommate" on this page: http://www.robinettefilms.com/films.html

I brought all my frames into after effects and used pixel motion to blend them together for more fluid looking motion.

Adobe OnLocation (formerly dvrack) has everything needed to do stop motion and time lapse recording direct to your computer. No tapes required. Download the 30 day free trial and do your assignment.

wow, that looked great William.
the handheld effect really created that real feeling that it was happening.

so how did you do the animation? did you shoot the dvx on the tripod and added the handheld effect later?
looks really cool
