Huh. How is that supposed to deter something that can sneak up on you? When would you know to use it? :)

Exactly....
but there are lots of bears here too, so it is best to have the gear if you need it. I also do alot of bad singing in the woods, to let all the critters know I am around.

Man, that thing was hungry!
I'm sure more than one critter dined on that carcass.

I am getting a Bear-Banger, which basically makes alot of noise.
I think that by the time I got that fired up , I would be stuffed and mounted on some cougars wall.)
How about a bear-banger that shoots a projectile... like a gun?

Yeah, there are lots of Coyotes here too, and the female Cougar had a calf/kitten/baby....

no guns for me.

OK, I really didn't need to see that...

One cat did all that in one night? Are cougars territorial or is it possible this guy was just passing bye and found a snack?

I too Googled Kelowna and like John I'm jealous. I also checked out the "Kelowna's Person of the Day" you werent there, how can this be?

Obviously he doesn't want to draw attention to himself... what with all the cougars hanging about.

That's the kind of thing I would have liked to see in the Zombie-Fest. :)
This stuff never happens when you NEED it to happen...

Cougars are very smart. They know when the heat is after them. They monitor all police and park ranger radio channels. My guess is that cougar is halfway to Mexico by now.

:)

Those photos were brutal. The circle of life is a beautiful thing, but it sure doesn't photo well.

Well put PK, I have thought alot about the chain of carnavoires...

and fight or flight....

Just caught onto this thread.

Those pics....wow.

But there is something that bother's me in this thread. All the talk about killing the cougar.

I hate to be a rain on the parade here but I'm a bit of an expert on this and let me tell you, that animal was not killed by a cougar.

If you notice the primary lacerations on the vertebral colum you'll notice a particular abberation on the third lumbar. Those can be made by only one beast on this earth.

My studies on this are conclusive and there is no way around it. There is no chance it was a cougar attack.....

This is the work of the Kelowna Yeti. Some call it a "Bigfoot", I call it father.

It's obvious. just plain obvious.

Do not hurt the cougar, kay?

So was out for my walk this morning and found these fresh tracks...12 hours old.
The saga continues....
