ANGENIUEX 11.5x5.3 CINE SYTLE LENS

I plan on purchasing an HPX 500. Most of my work is mostly features, videos or spots. Virtually no ENG, doc or reality. I'm seriously considering the ANG 11.5 x 5.3 Cine style HD zoom. I love all their film lenses and I'm no fan of ENG style lenses for fiction. I need the big markings and correct spacing for follow focus work. Who has any experience with this lens and how do they compare with CAC lenses? Also, anyone here buy from Barak - he seems to have a decent price for a very cool package.

Tim, I would have to think that the Angenieux HD would be superior to a cheap Canon or Fujinon HD zooms, even with CAC. From experience, I can see the huge difference that lens quality makes in the captured image. Now, I also believe that the higher end Canon and Fujinon Broadcast-level HD zooms are superior to their low cost siblings. As I have written before, I bought a $14,000 Canon zoom for my $10,000 Sony DSR-500ws and the image is stunning compared to the crappy, Pro Canon lenses (KRS series) that come with these cameras in discount packages. Go for the Angenieux.
 
Someone was telling me that at 5.6 the camera has the same dof as 16mm...

But I was wondering if any one has tried the Pro 35 yet... I know a guy in Arizona has.... sent him an email...

The HPX500 with a f1.4 lens ( like a digiprime when wide open) has the same dof as f5.6 in 35mm. That is Pretty Impressive. Maybe thats what your friend meant. The 2/3" sensors are actually smaller then s16mm (But almost the same size as regular 16mm) so its very similar.

Anyways, ANGENIUEX lens' have an extremely nice build and they are sure to stand up to pro use on a daily basis. They have huge markings and its actually a fairly light weight zoom at only 3-4lbs. Please Get it! (or 2, you can send one to me!)

I guess I like the dof field... like the grabs from another place with the 500 and the Pro 35.... still waiting for that email.... guess its Friday night...

Its been a while... not sure if they like you posting links from other forums...

I'll tell you what... if I go for the HPX... and if I'm in a good mood that day I'll buy you the camera if you buy me lens... only costs me $13,500 for a $26,000 lens... not a bad deal... : )

Actually d primes only open to a 1.6. Check with a DOF calculator and its closer to 8.0 in 35mm. That's depressing. I shot a feature with Dprimes last year and despite being sharp as a needle, I really like the look of 35 Pro adaptor better. Unfortunately, for blow up, the d primes have the sharpness you need.

I figure the odds of getting a film our pretty high... guess I'll watch the last feature I line produced again... we shot with the Cine Alta and a cine style zoom...

On the pro 35 I believe you can dial in the ground glass so that if your shooting with different frames you won't see the spinning correct...
