ANDROMEDA: HELP! I'm LOST where do I start?!

Hello folks my name is Bert and I just got my hands on an Andromeda (DVX100) - however I'm fully lost and just don't know where to start?!

I thought I could just hook up a fast external drive via an USB cable to the cam but from what I understand now, I need to connect the cam to a machine running SculptorHD and then record it to a fast drive, best using FW800. Is this correct?

Also is there a PC compatible version of SculptorHD or am I required to use a Mac?

Is there also any way to directly hook up a hardrive to the cam without computer inbetween?

Software is a requirement.
It's Mac only software and you need a computer.
