Andromeda DVX

A bit of a side issue: there is a Wikipedia entry for every trivial thing possible. Why is it that the Andromeda and Juan dont have entries?

so... when scarlet comes out there's no real point to andromeda. I mean granted if it fails in other areas like low light and stuff then I can see how the dvx plus andromeda would be able to compete, but lets say it doesn't then I guess that means scarlet for the win?

maybe I'm missing something?

Ok thats what I thought and read about that the max resolution is 1500x960 or whatever. The scarlet has a lot to live up to with all this hype.

wow! the camera with all the goodies will come to over 10 grand im sure.

I keep thinking that I'll only need the camera, but I'm sure there will be additional goodies to make it all work...It will be interesting how it stacks up against the HVX because the Scarlet seems very small (little control).

Ya, you are going to need the batteries, and the hard drives, and the mattebox, the viewfinder, this, that. It will start getting pretty bad as you see all this stuff that are basics for the camera. I wondered about the controls to this thing is tiny so maybe you have to do all the controls from your laptop.

I dont see why its so hard to make a camera that does what it does for $3k, it only has one sensor, and im sure theyre just going to borrow tech and manufacturing process from the already mature RED one.

It is small, and I hate that. I dont want a tiny camera, but regarding control, I just refuse to believe Jim would make a camera that doesnt have full control. I dont know that it will have all the deep image/color controls that the HVX does, but I'm sure it will have full exposure/focus controls. When Jon mentions all those professional uses in the second post, a production can use a camera in those situations, heck, ANY situation, without full control.

I get the impression Scarlet will be fairly shoot ready at 3 grand. You will need cf cards.... that's about it. It has a 4.8" lcd built in. It's not the same as the RED one, and indications are that it will be at least as shoot ready as most other cameras out there.

I don't think it's *that* tiny, is it? I saw the mock up at NAB and it was definitely smaller than say an HVX, but it certainly wasn't an HV20 either...

Only time will tell. News is still really slow on Scarlet right now it being so early in the game.

Well judging from RED products and the red one they have all these accesories that you are going to get either way. The scarlet is going to be the RED cash cow.

That post from ScarletUser just makes it more exciting. Well, let's just say I'm gonna start building up some cash because this is surely my next investment.

Sorry Panasonic. Thank You RED.
