Andro/SGPro Test Footage

Looks pretty good to me. I have the Letus35e myself. it looks about like that..Well, besides the andromeda stuff. But, yeah, nice look there.

Green Ranger, thank you for posting that clip. Even with H.264 encoding, the file is still very robust to tweak in post. I Applied a Curves filter and was blown away how clean the underlaying data is. Even with extreme CC, there are no underlaying compression artifacts, indicative or DV or even DVCProHD.

I can not wait for Hydra. SGPro produces great images. Drool...:2vrolijk_08:

I hate it when people show me stuff like this. I'm gonna be broke soon.

Very nice footage. Although I'm assuming it was the lady pulling focus on the last half of the video???? (might need to take her, or whoever it was, back to focusing school) ;)

curious what lens manuftr you used with all that resolving power? And of course its focal length and stop?

Unclebenji - Do u have any links to some of your letus35e footage, love to see some

Chris- Glad you liked it, would love to see what kind of CC shots you managed to rip out with that footage

Ditodan - Hehe I'll let her know

BWest - Was a Nikon 50mm f1.4 for the 1st shot and a sigma 28mm f1.8 for the second shot from what i recall

I opened the cameras iris a little more and seems to be a bit better indoors, I'll post some indoor footage tomorrow using a 500watta

Green Ranger,

I love it. Would love to see the same footage shot wih a Zeiss Planar.

What kind of post setup do you use for editing you footage. I know the Andromeda will set me back around $2400.00, but for me to be able to shoot edit and monitor what type of setup, and cost will I encounter?

Thanks

I was goofing around on a notebook computer below:

1. Considering the files has been encoded to H.264, it is still quite robust. Source file would be much better.
2. Looking at the scopes, the Waveform shows the overexposure, 100 IRE and above, amazing there is still some clouds and sky to be extracted.
3. Looking at the RGB Parade, all channels in the source file on the left clipped over 100, again attributable to the exposure. On the right RGB Parade, you can see I expanded the range used.
4. The issue, CC with overexposed background/sky and correct the underexposure on a back lit face of a man with dark complexion. mmmmm. Without using a feathered elliptical mask on the face (I don't have Colorista on this computer) to isolate the area and apply a filter to raise the luminance of the face, I did my best with Curves.

Just having some fun. Bring on Hydra, Juan!

Ifownlee - Well if you already have a dvx then yeah, around $2400 for the andro mod, You'll need either a macbook pro ($2000) or a mac mini ($600) with a touch screen ($500-600) to use SculptorHD and an external HD ($350AU) for a 500gig, not to mention the power inverter ($200AU) and power supply (??) and a rig to mount it all on (??) ..i chose the macbook pro :>
Around $1,069.00 for the SGPro rev.3 (not including postage :>), i have a follow focus, but not essential. Depending which lens mount you get the prices can vary. I have a 50mm f1.4 50mm, a 28mm and a 85mm f1.8 which seems to cover the majority of shots and all costed around $500AUS each brand new but you can shop around on ebay for second hand ones which is fun hehe..
If you dont get the letus flip, you'll need a LCD monitor to flip the image around the right way as well, which i picked up for around $350AU and a battery to power it for another ..$150AU i think :S
As for editing a good ol g5 still does the job which you could probably pick up on ebay for around $2500 at the most id say, that with Final Cut studio and AE with the help of a few plugins would do you just fine, but theres alot of people that just use Vegas, Premier and AE on their PC's which is just as good these days.. hehe so yeah you've got a fair hike ahead of you, but theres nothing better than receiving a letter in the mailbox saying that you've got registered mail :>

Chris - Wow, not bad considering it was run through 3 codecs, thought there'd be no hidden color information left after that. I'll post a still of the source and another clip later today, see what you all could do with that..

Uncompressed frame(s), that would be great Green Ranger, thanks.

Above, there is also the data wrangling and backup/storage requirements.

What is your data rate per second when you record? 50, 60, 70mb? And related to that, are you recording in linear RGB mode (12-bit?) or applying (baking in) a record LUT, and if so, what bit rate, 10-bit log?
