Anderson Cooper's small camera

I don't know how many of you watch the CNN coverage of the war in the Middle East. This has nothing to do with that conflict but is rather a technical question about the gear they are using.

I've noticed that ever since the Katrina disaster Anderson Cooper has been running around with this tiny little camera of his own filming this and that (often himself hunkering down behind a building etc). I've tried to find a picture of it but the CNN website sucks when it comes to images of their reporters.

I'm just wondering what camera it is. It's very small, has a huge shotgun of some sort attached to it with a big wind muff and everything and produces great images. All I can tell is that it's black and that it has the shape of a proper camera rather than those boxy small palmcorders (it's long, not tall if you know what I mean).

I'm a curious person. I just like to know things. Anyone have any ideas?

I've seen brief shots of his camera. I can't say with conviction what camera he's using (I would guess HD, or at least a small 3 ccd), but it's very small. If it's black I'm guessing JVC. He appears to have a wide-angle lens attached to the camera, making it look bigger. The shotgun looks like a Rode Videomic. I haven't seen any images from it yet (A.C. can get on my wick after a bit). Maybe I'll watch a little 360 this evening.

i believe he got his start by traveling to Africa and doing his own indie reports on genocide in africa. really felt like he had something to say and went for it.

From Wikipedia: "Cooper (...) is the younger son of Wyatt Emory Cooper and artist, designer, writer, and railroad heiress Gloria Vanderbilt. By his mother, he is the great-great grandson of railroad magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt."

not to say he's not a good reporter, but with that kind of money backing you up you can actually take a few years off and travel the world filming the poor and needy for no money.
