Someone please correct me, but wasn't he featured in some spot in about 1980 actually. Kids have been on skateboards forever, of course, but there was somewhat of an insurgence from about 1978-1985 and I could swear Rodney was featured somewhere in something (scratches head). I only remember seeing it and thinking it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen, and the guy must have practiced forever, on top of being graced by God.

Always been a HUGE RM fan. His primo slides blew my brain the first time I saw it.

Hell yeah . Bones Brigade. Wasn't that a RIPPER he was on ? My first board ever !

This dude ruled. Street Skating was my thing. Ramps, Meh, could, but loved street. Although he was more Freestyle. :P

i looked around. was it this?

Maybe. I thought it was older than that though. But it's been so long, I can't recall. I also saw on YouTube an old episode of That's Incredible, with RM. So maybe that was it?

I used to have skater friends who would show me skate videos all the time. I only ever enjoyed watching Rodney Mullen.

Wasn't he kind of portrayed as a d*ck in the Stacy Peralta documentary "Dogtown and Z Boys" and representative of the style of skate boarding that the Dogtown crowd was trying to change?

no, mullen came after those guys. and he skated with peralta's bones brigade.

For those wanting to remember those days a little more, I'd suggest picking up a copy of Tony Hawk's autobiography. It's pretty amusing!

I feel old.

Ghasp, I am old....

Isn't Tony Hawk like a grandpa now?

I gotta get out of this thread.

This was late 80's to early 90's I think.

I have always thought Rodney Mullen was proof of the existence of a time machine. He was a decade ahead of most people, pros included. What is truly amazing is that you watch most skate videos and they are heavily edited with a rare back to back trick in the same clip. In the video from the first post he went 3 minutes 40 seconds with one take, no falls, and extremely difficult tricks. I have seen him skate in person and he is a machine.

I think it's the short shorts, I mean, how can someone skate and have enough flexibility while wearing tight jeans that are sagging? that guy is ridiculous though
