BLUESPIDER said:Try running photoshop and illustrator with DPI in the near thousand with several dozen layers. See if you notice any difference in performance? Doing billboard stuff requires some very high rez stuff and even with 4gigs of ram on this intel xeon isn't cutting it for me. My PC can make better eggs.
BLUESPIDER said:Would getting more RAM and a better video help in speed? We will upgrade to CS3 but damn, let us learn and master CS2 first.
Kholi said:Sure, that's all OS X... not the over-priced, out-dated hardware. Under-supported, etc, etc.
I love OS X, I don't love Apple Hardware.

But it's things like the photoshop story here that really upsets me about Macintosh. They always seem to have these little hang-ups like that that aren't "technically" the systems fault, but they still slow your system down to a crawl when you're using the program, so it might as well be.

JasonFox said:Hmmmm. I, ilke Kai, must be a frickin' genius since I'm able to leave my MBP running for a week while opening and closing FCP multiple times, leaving Mail, Safari and iChat running and often dipping into Photoshop and InDesign (CS2 running via Rosetta) with nary a hiccup.
Yeah, nothing's perfect. And I assume PCs have come a long way since I begrudgingly handed in my Amiga and went Mac. And I wish Algore wasn't on the board. Hmmmm. Politics and Mac vs. PC -- how long before this thread gets shut down?![]()
