And the next Spielberg is...?

Re: And the next Spielberg is...?

Surprised he hasn't come up yet, Bryan Singer. His favorite movie is Jaws, and despite X-Men and X2 he's also got Usual Suspects and Apt Pupil under his belt. I think Peter Jackson's style is very different than Spielberg. Of course, all the guys already mentioned are pretty distinct. I just wonder what it would be like having a Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson film scored by John Williams. With most of Spielbergs films there's a unique fusion between the action and John Williams music. In some ways its comparable to Hitchcock's collaborations with Bernard Hermann. I also think that a lot of current filmmakers have echoes of Spielberg in their work.

Re: And the next Spielberg is...?

A guy named Francis Lawrence. Give him a few years. He has done a ton of music videos and is finishing up his first feature called Constantine.

Singer and PJ are already at a level that has them on par with spielberg almost.

I think you will know you have reached spielberg status when you become a household name...everyone knows spielberg...PJ is in the same class. brian not so much yet.

Re: And the next Spielberg is...?

Stephen "Underscore" Spielberg is among us!

I am sooo humbled. Your movies are killer man! I thought "Terminal" had a bad script, but man, you really pulled through with the direction.

Would you mind posting some screengrabs when you get a chance? That would be the greatest.

Re: And the next Spielberg is...?

I'm actually suprised he gets so little recognition. The man is a genius and he loves to push new technology.

Re: And the next Spielberg is...?

I love RR's approach and his support for the lo-budget filmmakers but I just havent seen a 'great' thing from him yet. They have been 'okaaaayy' but nothing has blown me away yet :-/

Well at least I hope so. ;D[/quote]

Gotta wait and see.

Re: And the next Spielberg is...?

I gotta agree. The spileberg/lucas posts are wasting some serious space on this board.

the only good movie he ever made was a short for Four Rooms. RR is a walking paradox. el mariachi was good for what it was (7k + processing), but its all unoriginal. And by the way, a great director does not get up to the top by making THREE spy kids movies. he claimed the first one he made was for his kids. now theres THREE. what a sell out, filthy rich hollywood director.
