OK, so with the bilger mount it will be possible to use any canon ef lens. But what about ef-s lenses ? Will it be possible to use my beautiful and very useful canon ef-s 17-55 mm with the beautiful and useful panasonic AF 100 ?

Thanks for your answers.

Yes, it should be possible to use the EFS lenses on the Birger mount.

The EF-S lenses are intended for the APC-S sensors, which are just slightly bigger than the m4/3. You will not have vinetting issues. For electronic controls you'll need the Birger mount. No price is announced yet but I'm expecting it to be about $1k-$1.5k unless they realize they can sell a ton and mass produce them. Birger said they expected their mount to be ready about the same time the AF100 ships.

If you have manual EOS lenses a cheap mount for < $30 will work fine. You could open the iris of an electronic lens on another camera and use ND filters, ISO, etc to control the light somewhat on the AF100 until you can buy a Birger mount.

But beware - some of the lenses (the Tamron 17-50mm) apparently actually protrude into certain camera bodies that otherwise might accept the lens. Meaning it could hit the sensor.

At least that's what my local dealer told me when I asked him if I could used the lens for a Mark II. Of course, it might be a total non-issue with the AF100, but it is something to double check on.

If the lens does not require mirror up in a Canon. It should be fine, because the adapter actually moves the lens forward away from the sensor.

The EF-S lenses have a slightly different mount that prevents them from being put on a 5D or 1D. It's not that the lens would hit the sensor, of course, but it may hit the mirror. Well, more specifically, the mirror may slap into the back of the lens as it flips up.

This is a non-issue on the AF100/GH1/GH2/etc., because m43 is a mirrorless format.
