Anamorphic with the HVX

So maybe someone can help me out here

(sorry if I posted in the wrong section first off...this is a technichal question that deals with hardware so I just wasn't sure...so I figured why not in the main section)

I want to shoot with the HVX but anamorphically.....what does that entail?

I will be shooting an upcoming music video 720p 24pn 16x9 but I was asked by the band to shoot it Anamorphically?????

I have shot with the HVX clean, with ps technik and zeiss super speed lenses......but neither of those are anamorphic

does this mean to get an adaptor and use anamorphic lenses????? I'm not sure and if so has anyone done this. Has anyone heard or seen of HVX Anamorphic footage?

Also is it wise to do so? Or is it just better to shoot this stuff clean or with the standard 35mm adaptors?

Some feedback, some possible tests or projects that have been shot Anamorphic would be appreciated

I'm confused and not sure what direction to go. I personally think to shoot with the mini-35mm should be good enough but I want to explore this whole Anamorphic idea before I shoot it down

ask the band what they mean when they say "Anamorphically"..they might not know really what the term means...and just using a picked up cool term...

they might mean they just want the vid to have a wide screen ...16x9 or 2:35:1 look to it.

i would ask the band for a bit more info.

I would ask the band to clarify their requirements.

My guess is they are asking for a simple 16:9 format, which is anamorphic.

If they want something wider than that, I would crop rather than add an adapter. Why? Because they probably aren't going to film, and you cannot take advantage of the extra horizontal resolution using DVDs, streaming video, or TV broadcast.

i guess now I am curious...hence the question

is there such a thing for Anamorphic with the HVX......yes or no?????? and if Yes what is it?

because I do know what Anamorphic means:

it is taking the full 4x3 image of say 35mm film and putting a 2:35 image that is squeezed onto the negative and then when it is projected you are taking that same 35mm negative square image that when the projectionist puts a piece of special glass it stretches the information back out so you get a true 2:35 and you use all of your negative...(basically fitting a rectangle in the square of the film negative)

this required anamorphic lenses that are heavy and eat up a lot of light......special glass that squeeze the 2:35.1 image onto a 1:33.1 negative

my question is...is there something similiar for hvx....i don't care what the band wants I want to know now.

a popular trend today in film is to shoot super 35mm so as to use more of the negative and just crop off top and bottom to achieve the 2:35 anamorphic LOOK....this is what I do now with hvx when I want 2:35....I just shoot 16x9 and put markers on my lcd and crop off top and bottom.....but is there an actual anamorphic process that can be done with HVX??????????

what the band wants is irrelevant....i want to know if the process exists for digital, more specifically HVX 200 and how it would be done.....someone with some answers please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
