GH5 Anamorphic Travel Camera?

Decided at the last minute to take the SLR Anamorphot-40 1.33x, mounted on a Panasonic 25mm f/1.7 lens attached to a GH5, on a 3-week, 3-country European tour, using the combination the same way I would use any other travel camera with a fixed or zoom lens. Shooting and moving constantly, all hand-held.

The advantage of the adapter is that it allows auto-focus pass through, and while the combination is still technically a dual focus system, at normal lengths, auto or manual focus of the taking lens was accurate and efficient. For closer objects it was still easy to adjust the lenses.

Enjoyed the experience very much and came back with over 300GB of 10-bit, 4:2:2 internally recorded 4K footage. Here is a small sample.

Lovely footage and the GH5 and the SLRMagic 1.33x go well together...can you share the aspect ratio you shot in and whether you cropped vertically in post...best footage I've seen shot on the Anamorphot so far!

Very nice compositions. Also, the anamorphot adapter seems to hold sharpness edge to edge.

Thanks.

The company seems to have done a good job on this one. Just transcoding a bunch more footage and am happy to report that the adapter produces very nice blue flares.

Thanks.

The footage was captured using the 16:9 ratio. Not sure cropping is the right term, I de-squeeze the footage by scaling the Y axis to 75%.

Also some credit has to go to the humble 25mm taking lens, and of course, the subject matter. :)

Thanks...I just wanted to know if you desqueesed only or actually cropped vertically too, but the 16x9 gives you a really nice wide Cine scope...I have the SLRMagic 50 1.33x Anamorphot, which is not a single focus like your version, but I have the Rangefinder too...have yet to try this combo on the GH5...luckily the GH5 is beefy enough to take the bigger adapter and Rangefinder on the taking lense! I may have to go to a 28 or 35 on the taking lens though, as the Rangefinder I bought (also SLRMagic) extends quite far out as you focus...may vignette at 25 mm.
