Anamorphic question

I find with the anamorphic, for perfect focus you need to manually set the aperture, and thus I have a tendancy to get some overexposure even using ndfilter with too much lighting, but I would hate to underlight and be stuck with the noise. Obviously when shooting in the same space at different focus and zoom this can mean some variations between clips.

Barrys book has a chart which outlines MINIMUM aperture for various zoom and focus settings. Lets say under one setting my min. is 3.4 and that shot looks really nice at that setting, then my next requires a min of 5.6 which looks a little darker.

Maybe I have missed something here??? Barry is there much leway in the mins?

Shooting with the anamorphic is not easy. If you want the extra resolution, you've got to work for it.

Is there leeway? Maybe. Adam Wilt came up with that chart, and he recommended those numbers, and he said that they may be a little conservative. But the more you vary from them, the softer your image will get...

thanks Barry yeah Im working on getting it right everyday at the moment. I will admit my shots are getting better all the time with the ana.
