Anamorphic question?

This will probably come off as a dumb question but go easy on me since I'm new to this. Well, I've been wondering what would be the difference in cropping footage in the same ratio as getting an anamorphic lens adapter such as the hot rod adapters which will soon be released. is it worth paying almost $1000 to get an adapter?

If you have an anamorphic lens then you won't be losing any resolution when you're shooting. But if it isn't anything high budget, it might not be worth it, the loss probably won't be that critical when you're shooting on such an inexpensive camera.
