I tried out the anamorphic lens the other day and noticed that at the top of the image if there is something straight it appears slightly curved. Is this normal? Is there a way to offset it? In professional productions is this noticeable?
ive used the lense for over a year now, and have no idea what your talking about, and if its on the top, it should be in the bottom too. if your at full or near wide your bound to get some barrel distortion, but thats from the reg dvx lense. and would happen on the reg dvx. and the lense doesnt vignette at all at any setting.
What you're likely seeing is barrel distortion. The DVX lens is quite wide, and it displays a bit of barrel distortion at its widest setting. An add-on wide-angle lens will exaggerate that effect, and the anamorphic adapter is an add-on wide-angle lens (just only on the horizontals).
You can see the inherent barrel distortion, and how it's magnified by a wide-angle lens, in the test shots at www.icexpo.com/dvx100/century.html
