Singer 16-D 2x Anamorphic Adapter (50mm mount)

Some of the most widely available anamorphic adapters on Ebay are the Japanese Kowa line of 2x anamorphic projector lens. They were marketed under numerous brand names: Kowa, Sankor, Elmoscope, and Singer. The Singer 16-D I found has a 50mm filter ring mount, which I converted to 52mm with a non-standard 50-52mm adapter ring. This adapter is a size that really requires mounting separately on 15mm rails on top of a tripod. While it can work without vignetting down to a 50mm prime lens, I found it best suited to a vintage Konica Hexanon 80-200mm f3.5 zoom lens: (http://www.buhla.de/Foto/Konica/Objektive/e80-200_35.html)
As with all 2x anamorphic adapaters, the image produced by the Singer 16-D is compressed horizontally by a factor of two. However, the 1920x810 MJPEG video frame automatically expands the image width by 33%, making it look less extreme:
Before these videos can be viewed normally, the image must be upsampled horizontally in a video editor. With my MJPEG 1920x810 Patch, it requires an additional 50% stretch to a 2880x810 frame. This is then cropped back down to 1920x810 to produce the rendered result:
