My vendor offered me a demo Anamorphic Adapter for about $100 less. Other then scratches and thread wear, what else should I watch out for?

Make sure the little screw on the side is not broken. Apparently it requires a little delicate handling. Make sure the vendor explains to you how to put it on, and, even more important, how to take it off. It's completely counter-intuitive.
When you attach the adaptor, it may feel a little loose (you can kind of rock it around the horizontal axis that's pependicular to the optical axis). It's only about half-millimeter or maybe less, and it's normal, as far as I understand.
