Analog-to-Digital Video Conversion - DV Out Function

Hi-

I am trying to hook my DVX100A up to my VCR and convert/digitize some footage off an old VHS tape onto a miniDV tape. Does anyone have any experience trying to do this with the DV Out function?

The camera can read the DVD signal from my DVD player using RCA cables, but cannot seem to pick-up and hold the VHS signal. Any suggestions?

Thanks ---

I have transfered a bunch of VHS stuff this way. I honestly don't remember how I had the camera set up though (but I know it was easy). You are getting a signal from a DVD player, but not from the VCR... and connecting it to camera the same way? Strange. I'm pretty sure it mentions how to do this in the DVX book if you have it.

I guess I wasn't much help :undecided

Yeah, I have a combo VCR/DVD player, and the same RCA cables will give me a steady signal for DVD but not for VHS. A few times, a blip of VHS image has come through, but it can't hold the signal for some reason.

The DVX book talks about what the DV Out function should do (pg 85) in terms of analog-digital conversion, but it doesn't seem to be working... ???

This is what I did before....if i remember it correctly. Hook up your VHS player using S-video or RCA cables.

Set your DVX in VCR mode > menu > DV in/out > on

Play your VHS player and capture using your NLE program.

It should run correctly.
