"An Hours Sleep"

I liked that. The narrator worked a bit hypnotizing, wich helped me in getting sucked into the story. I recognized the Moby music with a smile.

The only thing that bothered me a bit was the opening part with the bouncer. It looked more staged and 'acted' than the rest of the film. But as I was still getting into the story at that point, it didn't hurt the pleasure of watching the film (I sort of forgot that, but since I am writing this reaction I recalled while writing).

I realy liked the darkness of it all. Both thematic and visual.

I really enjoyed this. The shots were overall pleasing and the direction was good, editing ok.

What of course made this film was the superb narration. Wow, what a great job at setting up a picture with this great voice and excellent written word. The narrator basically made up for any visual short commings and typing this a couple days after i watched it, its really the thing that stands out in my mind.

What lighting, sound setup did you use for this?

cheers for the comments, yeah I agree about the opening scene with the bouncer could of been better

yeah the voiceover is great it was done by David Vann he's worked on the Archers (long running BBC radio show) he really adds to it, the director did the first one but we scrapped it.
We spent £85 making this (smoke machine & VO)
and had 2 crew.

my mate Jon the director is a boxing promoter so we had acces to the location and Richie Woodhall a former WBC world champ, he lost the belt to Joe Calzaghe.

The sound was picked up on camera with Rode NTG-2 had to do alot of sound edting in the mix.
The lighting was 2 x 1k softboxes without the box rigged onto the metal frame that supports the ropes.

Was shot on a XHA1,cineform, CS3

thanks for watching :)

It does looks and sounds very well.

Only thing that kind off "disturbed" me... The sound of shouting people doesn't match with the image for me.

Maybe some foley stuff would add more "personality" of the characters (sound of training, steps, hits)

But I'm not a boxing fan and I was not borred watching it.
