An Evening at the Soccer Game with Friends and Family

Took my GH2 for the first time to an LA Galaxy soccer game and fooled around with it and decided to edit together a little video out of what I got. Probably too long at a running time of exactly 10 minutes, but, dammit, it's my video and I can make it as long as I want.

I'm not a good cameraman or DP by any stretch of the imagination (my talents lie elsewhere), and everything was hand-held with a camera not designed for ENG applications, so its shaky and often out of focus (sometimes intentionally but oftentimes not) but for an affordable little camera, it really rocks...

I shot smooth, -2 everything, auto WB because I didn't want to mess with it, ISO 200 when using the Canon FD 50mm 1.4 and ISO 800 when using the Panny 14-140mm. Everything handheld, so pardon the shaky cam. Used the FCP motion stabilizer for a couple shots but mostly left it as is. Applied a Magic Bullet Quick Looks present to bump up the contrast but otherwise left everything pretty much as shot (including my poor exposure on a lot of it - like I said - I'm not a DP).

And for those who have never been to the HDC or a professional soccer game, this will give you a little taste of the experience -- all footage shot inside the stadium is from my seat in the corner -- everything is my point of view (with some zooming here and there). This video also gives a good demonstation of the pros and cons of both lenses I used (Canon FD 50/1.4 and Panny 14-140/4-5.6). You can tell pretty easily when I'm using each lens - but basically I only used the Canon FD until after I started shooting the game, then switched to the Panny to get most of the game footage -- needed the extra zoom and the image stabilization -- then switched back to the Canon for the last part of the game and all of the aftermath. Also used the ETC mode extensively on both lenses while shooting inside the stadium...

Hope you enjoy my little production:
