an edited scene from my short

The word is lighting. Ya need some. And are you reeeaaally shooting with a DVX? The image quality seems sub-par.

Keep at it though. Practice makes perfect, right?

it looks fine on my monitor.
there was an omni 500k with 1/4CTB on there...
its a night scene supposed to be dark ya dig?

Lighting looks okay on my monitor. It's actually the acting that's not doing it for me. Then again for some unkown reason I want to see the whole thing. Oh, your audio sounds alot better.

It's dark bro. Hella grain too. It doesn't look like it was even shot on DVX. More like my old Hi8 camera. I'm not trying to hate. Just being honest with you man. I do give you props for making the effort. Make sure your monitor is calibrated right. Just keep filming dude..

hahah ok ok acting is bad i know. im using an external monitor and it is properly calibrated.
i added the grain but i dont think it looks like hi 8 berm... its prolly the compression, because uncompressed video looks dope.

looks like a night scene... it isn't too dark on my comp

but ya, the acting is whats killing it

lighting seems alright tho

I don't think the problem is the amount of light as much as where it is or isn't. I would suggest using reflectors to get at least some light on the actor's faces. The hats are casting shadows across their faces while the background has nice highlights. This is drawing attention away from the actors and towards the walls.

Lighting is hard.

I agree with the masses on this one:

1. Way dark on my monitor and mine is calibrated (my computer monitor is not a NTSC Production monitor)

2. The acting is below average

3. Get some light on those actors! There is more light on the porch beam than the talent themselves.
