an easy one: Shooting w/ DVX100 & 100A...having trouble matching look.

The DVX100 is mine, but the DXV100A is borrowed--and I've never used one before and assumed it'd be set up identically.

Novice as it may be, I basically set my 100 from its factory settings each time I shoot (start from scratch, then add cine gamma, 24p and then whatever else to adjust to my shooting conditions, etc).

The 100A, I don't know if the basic factory settings are just different, or if the owner had set each of scene files up a certain way...but it just looks off, almost like it has digital noise in the picture, or something.

I went through both menus simultaneously, but nothing seemed out of place on the DVX100A...and I even hit "reset"...still, it doesn't look right.

Can anyone suggest a way to get the most barebones, default settings so I can adjust both cameras from the ground up?

it sounds like you've done it already. You should also make sure that the gain is at 0 on both cameras. This is a switch - not just a menu item. Also, make sure both cameras are set to the factory preset white balance. If you have the DVX book there's a listing there of the difference btwn the cameras. This may help??

All the best.

it will be a complete ***** to match both cameras unless u tweak the colour phasing in the 100a. also Black levels are different so u need to increase the master ped of the 100a

despite the fact its the "same" camera, its not..believe me, ive been shooting multicam jobs with one of each and ive had nothin but issues.. even dumbing down.
The 100a offers a cleaner more accurate colour rendition. Low light performance is about half a stop worse than the 100, greens and reds (and green red matices) will be the biggest issue you face

its not easy.. hence why im trying to sell my gear for 2 A1s with custom WB which allows u to dial it in by the degree...
