an anamorphic christmas (Hot Rod PL + 1973 Lomo)

It's amazing what that look can do. Just that photograph makes me think Sci-Fi and there is nothing to it. I want one. ;) Actually I just want a lot of lenses because I'm feeling too limited with this stock lens.

Get yourself some cheap Canon FDs, they really will open up a new world beyond the stock lens - that's what makes this camera so awesome, the stock lens is definitely limiting, it's a slow superzoom - yeah, it covers a lot of focal lengths but it's pretty plain (not bad) but plain and slow.

As soon as I collect a little $$ I will but right now I'm real tight after losing my job last year. Unemployment is limiting my ability to do much at all at the moment until I get another source of income. Once I do get another source the first thing I am going to buy is a couple of primes. No wait... I'm going to get a mic for my H4N then get some primes. ;)

glass addiction comes over you pretty quick with the GH1. too many cool options!

also, here are a few more shots with the +2 diopter for fun:

i realized that i only tried shooting a face with the lens at minimum focus, here's the +2 at infinity, can almost get a face in there:

On those 2 bottom pictures the bokeh looks like there is compression artifacts? Was that part of the capturing or maybe the result of sqeezing all that screen into that screen grab? Just curious. The plant you can slightly see it but it really stands out with the female subject grab.

..Illya's 7DPL sounds pretty fantastic!

Nitsuj, the last shot was VERY underexposed and at 3200 iso. there was all sorts of noise and banding going on.

Oh so it was a photograph at 3200 ISO? I was just thinking that it didn't look like normal noise I have seen come out of the GH1 video. It only goes to 1600 ISO video but even at that high the noise looks different. So I was wondering if it had anything to do with the lens. But if it was a still then it makes sense because I haven't played with stills at that high of an ISO yet to know how it looks. Either way I am dying to get some other lenses on this thing. The stock is good but I wanna play too! ;)

I just picked up about 15 more Lomo anamorphics (both roundfront and squarefront).

FYI-The 50mm and 80mm squarefront can indeed be easily taken apart (they are actually a prime lens with a focusing anamorphic section up front- they both focus in union when you pull focus on the gear) you could modify the front anamorphic section to be attached to any lens you wanted, im actually doing it right now. I just tested it on my 5dm2 with a 50mm + 85mm nikon lens and its great, nice and sharp. Love the lomos!

Even better though is taking apart the lomo roundfront anamorphic section, they are designed to have the rear prime lens set at infinity and the front anamorphic section does all of the focusing work and the image stays tack sharp. But the roundfronts are too expensive to butcher into an anamorphic adapter.

hunter, thanks for the info and pics. i knew the lenses were 2 parts like that, but i thought it'd look A LOT scary on the inside! haha.

and 15 more!! PM me if youre ever looking to thin out that herd!
