My sister went into a studio in northern Michigan to record a demo album. It came out a lot better than I thought. I recorded pretty much everything on my hvx sans redrock (due to insufficient light) but still there should be some videos on the myspace page soon.

All of the music is original, besides the Amy Winehouse song Back to Black. They also did Midnight Rider by The Allman Brothers which sounds good. Well...

Wow, very nice stuff. I love how its inspired by coldplay and regina. I adore regina. And coldplay is right on the top of my list as well.

Awesome. I think people give coldplay a little too much flack. They are great musicians in my book.

She knows a guy in Barenaked Ladies and he is delivering the demo to the head of Nettwerk music group tomorrow!

We're crossing our fingers...
 
Best of luck, she could turn out to be the next sara bareilles. Who literally popped up on the Itunes free download of the week and now is on the top 10 play list.

I throughly enjoyed the music. Listened to everything. I for one would buy that demo.

Yes, it's good to have talent, congratulations to your sister. However, it is equally important to have name recognition. It's obvious that you understand this - hence the title of your thread "Amy Winehouse", even though as you said, the entire demo is all original material except for the one Amy Winehouse cover... yet what is the title of the thread? Yep, Amy Winehouse. Of course - everybody recognizes the name Amy Winehouse, so that was a good decision. Very appropriate for a site used by filmmakers - isn't this how it always worked in our industry? Make a movie with unknown actors, then have a 5 second cameo by a name actor, and guess how the movie is going to be promoted :)... that's right, with the name of the 5 second cameo... aah, name recognition!

So in addition to congratulating your sister on her native talent, congratulations to her brother for the grasp of the other aspect of a career launch - marketing. Well played, sir.
