"Amulet Man" Short Film

you have a talent for CGI stuff, really good work on that. Your shots could have used a bit more of a mix (more mediums and wides), but overall not to bad. Your acting seemed very nice, and cinematography was good.

My biggest gripe? The writing. Aww man, it was hard to keep watching at times. I guess you were trying to go for a sort of napoleon dynamite silly thing or something, but i didnt like it.

I saw another sort of runny superhero short recently called Airborne, (check it out, its on here), they had some humor but overall took it a little more seriously and IMO got more things right. They didnt have your awesome cgi thouhg.

I say spend a bit more time at the writing desk next time, and you should have a really nice product.

good job

Thanks for watching. We were a bit limited in interiors by the old 35mm adapter, which brought our camera to ISO80. So we could only shoot close ups for the most part, unless we removed the adapter.

Thanks for the compliments on the CGI. I did it all myself and it took four years.

Sorry to "up" a video, but I'm just trying to promote it a little more.

I spent four years on this so I'm trying to get a few more views; the CGI shot of the guy flying forward took at least a thousand hours, as it was the first time I'd built a full CGI face, textured it, and then built a body and IK rig, plus animation, lighting, hair/hair physics and shaders, and compositing against a sky generated primarily in tinderbox. Then, of course, the motion blur covered up everything except for the terrible animation. At least I learned one thing about 3d animation: it's really not for me...
