AMR10 recorder

Hi,

I was reading about a Panasonic AMR10 recorder/player soon to be released that would support HDMI and HD-SDI inputs. I'm assuming this would let me record directly off my HMC-150 HDMI port (skipping the AVCHD compression). Is this correct? If this is true, the image quality should be much better.

If I WAS able to do this and record this raw bitstream onto a hard drive (or 32GB SDHC card, which I think the AMR10 supports), How would I ingest this raw video data into Final Cut Pro 7?

Thanks!!
Randy

But how would you skip the AVCHD compression? if the unit is recording also to AVCHD! am i missing something... If anything it would give you redundancy by creating a backup/double of whatever you shoot!

the only way you can bypass the codec is a live HDMI signal out of the camera. Taking the card out and playing it on another device, even if it has HDMI, it still has been encoded. I haven't seen this device- but this is the way it usually works (to my knowledge)
