I've got a AMD 5600+ Dual Core in a HP Pavillion m8100n. I'm using Premiere CS4.
I played some short test footage/mid range mb/s shot on a HMC150 on the dual core and it "seemed" to play back ok - but I've been contemplating an upgrade to quad core for a while. My present mobo won't support any higher speed processor ...
So I went out to NewEgg (on a tight budget) and picked up a new mobo, RAM and processor - then thought before I open it all up I'd see what people thought about the AMD Phenom II X4 Deneb 3.0 GHz. Seems like it's getting rave reviews on Newegg. I know gamers overclock - does anyone do that to edit/compress?
The mobo I got is AM+2/AM3 which means - I think - that it will be compatible with the next generation of AMD processors - which means - I hope - that in a year I can get a new processor without having to upgrade mobo and RAM.
Does this sound good? Any advice much appreciated.
