amazing sand animation

I really like this. But I thought of two things while watching this:

1. America's got talent would never have something this long.

2. I find it obnoxious when people don't hold their applause until the end of something. I actually find it incredibly stupid. Borderline retarded, really.

Anyway, again, very spiritual and organic. I find a lot of stuff from Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, etc, is like that. They still have spirituality there.

And is Дмитрий Хворостовский really super pompous in real life? I mean, he has a great voice, so maybe he should be.

I suppose he wouldn't call it art if a someone painted the Mona Lisa with chalk on the sidewalk?

That was simply incredible, never seen sand animation and that was stunning. My question, is why doesn't America produce cool stuff like that?

That was just absolutely brilliant.

Even without getting much of the historical references, I started feeling emotional.

True art.

Street painters are much under rated in my book.
Some of them are unbelievable, especially those how do pseudo 3D paintings.

1: Maybe because of time restrictions to fit everyone in. Possibly and probably, sure.

2: I disagree. I 'think', I speak for many people, when I say that holding your applause till the end of a stage performance, is out of respect for waiting until the performance is over.
I don't like to spoil an act's timing by applauding in the middle of a performance, particularly, a stage performance. Bands, sure. But not stage.

Stage actors and pit bands have timing concerns, and throwing everything off, as in the case of heckling a comedian, for example, would almost have the same result. I truly find that disrespecful. Again, this is a stage performance, not a live band performance, so you should act accordingly.

To add, I've performed in many competitions, and believe me, there's no applause, ever. And that's out of total respect for the artist and the artists that are to follow. Not out of disrespect.

I guess I made a major boo boo there...

I find it obnoxious when people don't hold their applause until the end of something.
Sigh, yeah, that's what I meant. So I agree with you, after all. Geez. Ummm, I goofed. I read it wrong and flipped out, lol.

zaza - HA HA oh my God that's hilarious. I sent that link out to some family. They get sand animation and America's Got Talent gets freakin' stupid fire acts.

Didn't this win the competition? We don't have this in America because America loves pat, souless things. How many Americans would probably laugh at this? You think this would win Americas got whatever? Do you think a sand painting could make an audience weep like that?

Probably not. I don't know- I'm probably generalizing. But I feel like we in America are missing that- that "motherland" roots sort of spirituality. It's been replaced with blind patriotism...and I'm pretty sure Russians/Ukrainians distinctly seperate patriotism and love for ones homeland...ones roots.

I think thats why some woman that paints with sand is big there and not here. We're too sarcastic. Too jaded (as a society- I'm not talking about everyone here- mostly how our media, schools and institutions are set up...)

I think the Beat Generation directly addressed this. I think they struggled with it- dealt with it. Ginsberg, Kerouac. Even Dylan to some extent. But they're gone now. I don't think things like that exist. I don't think anything like the countercultre movements from the 40s-70s exists anymore. It's all dead. The 80s killed it. Hip-hop started it up again, and corporations took that over too! MTV took that over!

Someone save us!:violin:

we had some free months of the Baby channel a couple of years ago, and they would do this late at night... I loved to sit there and watch them :)

She was great.
