amateur question re image quality

When shooting standard interlaced video does the DCR2100 image compare well against the DVX100A? I would be shooting nature stuff, football games, family stuff, etc. But I do like great image quality and would be willing to put out more $ for it. I think I can get by without 24p.

I see no reason to invest in a DVX100 if 24p isn't your bag. I would think you would be very happy with the Sony for your needs.

Agreed. You're not going to notice much (if any) difference between the two cams in 60i mode. The VX2100 should be a great cam for you.

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought they would be comparable. For only $700 more the DVX100 is tempting. It would be fun experimenting with all the goodies.

well worth the extra $700 IF you're going to take advantage of the DVX's goodies.

Certainly!

For example do you need XLR microphone inputs or just a point and shoot camera?

After viewing many of the clips on this forum I can't resist. I'm going for the DVX.

You'll love it. I thought I'd be happy with something less, too. Then I saw the footage. Another thing... the audio is way better on the DVX.
