Am I stupid to sell my HVX for $4,000?

Hi,

I am thinking of selling my HVX200 for $4,000. Is this a good price or am I losing too much money? Not many hours on the heads and it is in perfect condition!

I want to sell because the recording times are not long enough and I am shooting events mostly. I am thinking of going with a Canon instead for this reason.

Also, I cannot afford assistants to offload footage all the time so please let me know if you think $4,000 is too cheap for my HVX with some extra batteries and UV filter.

Thanks!

Well, you can get one brand new, with the 8gb P2 card (rebate), for $5200 from B&H. So, if you are including an 8gb P2 card, you are offering a 20% discount. Sounds reasonable to me, but that's just me.

4k is the price that I am lookng for! Let me know if you do put it up for sale. I am very interested!

Why not just shoot in SD mode on tape? do you need HD for your events?

Just my suggestion: hold onto it and shoot in SD mode on tape. Offer HD, but up your price by at least 75%. With the extra money from the HD price's, get yourself a firestore or two.

And get a Spider Brace if you are looking to be comfortable for a full event. You are going to regret selling it! When you do need HD for something you are going to regret not having it. I also agree with RC! Dont do it! Get a couple of DVX batteries too! They are great, cheap and have long run times!

You could probably get more for it. I suggest holding onto it if you're going to continue doing video projects.

2o% below the cost of brand new unit seems totally reasonable. not too high not too low.

i don't know if hvx is in b stock mode yet but when that happens your camera will be worth even less. Dump it now, dump it fast, things change really really fast in the digital age.
